If anyone knows any show dates preferably 76-78 where Donna does not participate please let me know. Thanks in advance.

No doubt. I'm not a huge Donna fan but GEEZ! Is it that hard to fast forward the one song she might lead on? Does her mere presence make one want to discount inarguably the peak of the Dead's music? I mean preferences aside can anyone really deny that 72-77 were the bands musical peak? Here's another example - DP1 12/73 is without Donna and I can think of MANY MANY superior shows that I'd rather listen to. I mean the O1 is what like 6 minutes? I'll take that mammoth 11/14/73 San Diego O1 sandwhich thank you.

not within the years you are hoping for, but no Donna for the shows January 20 and 21, 1979. (last 2 shows of her 2nd to last tour)

"...BLAH, BLAH BLAH..."

that's a tough question....there are some hints in this 1998 interview > http://www.levity.com/gans/Donna.980328.html

where she mentions leaving halfway thru her 2nd to last tour >

Donna:
And we realized that we had to get out of the band. We talked about it; we said, "We're not quitters. We don't know how to quit." But we knew we that we needed to be out of the band. It was nobody's fault, it's just what was happening. And never would there be any blame there in any way. Everybody's responsible for their own actions. But we knew we needed to be out of the band. Now, they did, too, and I can maybe take this opportunity to clarify. I get questions: "Did you guys quit or were you fired?" And I say very honestly, it was both. Very much both. I left a tour mid-tour once, and I can't remember what that tour was, but I left in the middle of the tour. I just said, I can't do this anymore.

So it was after that tour, then Keith and I did one more tour. And there was a meeting at mine and Keith's house, and the whole band came, and they -- I believe it was Bobby that said, "We think you guys need to do your own musical thing, and it's time for you to go and do what you want to do." And we said, we agree. That's where *we* were at. So it was a very mutual decision. But they did say that. I want to get that on record. There was a meeting at our house, and they let us know it was time, and we let them know we were definitely in agreement that it was time. Therefore, it was never real strained or weird. Keith and I just went about doing what we needed to do and so did they.

No Donna for 11/30-12/19/73, most or all of 7/27/74 or for the 2nd set of 7/17/76

Oh donna, no donna, oh donna, no donna...
I had a girl. donna was her name.
Since she left me, Ive never been the same.
cause I love my girl. donna, where can you be?

I noticed that almost every show she was in 1979, she sang "From the Heart of me"
that may have worn thin a bit....
